My name is Abby Abbott. I am a physical therapist who, since 1997, has helped hundreds of people experience decreased pain and increased quality of life.
I love my work because I love people. I love to help them solve their physical problems so they can become empowered over their own physical health and move on with their life's goals and passions. My biggest strengths are my clinical skills and my inquisitive nature coupled with persistence in finding solutions for my patients.
I am proud to start my journey as a solo Physical Therapist here in San Miguel. I know this community well, having lived here off and on since 1976; attending the Escuela Bilingue as a child, visiting my father here frequently and living here for a year to care for him in 2014/2015 at the end of his life. During that time I had a part-time practice providing in-home PT which was busy and which provided me with the confidence to move forward currently.
I am looking forward to serving the community in the areas of Orthopedic and Neurological Physical Therapy. I love working with patients on balance and fall prevention, post-surgical, and everything in between. I also specialize in the treatment of Lymphedema, which I especially enjoy treating.
I am most excited to implement my most current "passions", which are Pregnancy Related Issues and Women's Health and Physical Therapy. I have received and continue to receive training through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. I see a variety of diagnoses related to pelvic floor dysfunction. To highlight a few: stress and urinary incontinence, pelvic pain and pelvic organ prolapse. In addition to other resources, I am really excited to be able to provide patients a real time visualization of the pelvic floor utilizing Real Time Ultrasound, which is a modern, state of the art tool in treatment of the pelvic floor. See my 'services' section for more detail on diagnoses and treatment.
I look forward to working with you!

My leg was so swollen, I admit, I had my doubts the therapy would work. But after just two weeks, the swelling was down so much my shoes were too big.
I'm in awe of the treatment.
